Common plate/groove and fillet positions in plain English
1G is flat, 2G is horizontal, 3G is vertical and 4G is overhead. Pipe position designations use a different system such as 1G, 2G, 5G and 6G.
1F is flat, 2F horizontal, 3F vertical and 4F overhead. Electrode/wire choice and settings may change with position.
