Welding Safety Guide

PPE, fumes, fire prevention and shop setup basics

Arc and hot-metal hazards

Use suitable eye/face protection, gloves and flame-resistant clothing. Protect nearby people from arc exposure and sparks.

Fumes and ventilation

Welding and cutting fumes can be hazardous. Use source capture, ventilation and respiratory protection appropriate to the material/coating and work environment.

Fire and cylinders

Remove combustibles, control sparks, secure compressed-gas cylinders and follow hot-work/fire-watch requirements when applicable.
