Start with cost, not a guess
Calculate direct material, labor time, consumables and job-specific expenses. Then add a fair share of overhead before deciding on profit.
Account for minimum-job friction
A 20-minute weld can still require messaging, measuring, driving, setup, cleaning, consumables and payment processing. Many shops use a minimum charge to cover that friction.
Markup vs margin
A 30% markup on cost is not the same as a 30% gross margin. If cost is $100 and price is $130, gross margin is about 23.1%.
Card fees
If you pass through or absorb card-processing cost, handle it consistently and lawfully. The job-profit calculator can show the effect of an entered card percentage.
